On 7th Novermber, the 2021 Chinese Overseas Students Conference (themed "Spark of a Star, Gradually for a Hundred Years"), a key event of the 2021 Hangzhou International Talent Exchange and Project Cooperation Conference, was grandly opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
During opening ceremony of the conference, Shi Yigong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, said in his speech that this conference is to thoroughly implement the spirit of the Central Talent Work Conference, give full play to the intelligence-intensive advantages of overseas students, build a communication bridge between Chinese students and the government, enterprises, and academia, and help Chinese students to better understand China's policies and opportunities. We call on more Chinese students to return to China to dedicate what they have learned, and inject new momentum into high-quality development. He shared three points of experience with the international students. They must have a strong sense of family and country and not forget the original intention of studying abroad; they must have the quality of being brave and innovative, and strive to be the pioneer of the times.
Under the guidance of the European and American Scholars Association (Chinese Overseas Students Association), Liepin Big Data Research Institute and Providence Academy jointly launched a special research on talents of overseas students. After in-depth research on nearly 10,000 Chinese students studying abroad in the world, the "2021 White Paper on the Development of Chinese Students Studying Abroad" was officially released at this forum.
Accompanied by the recitations by the chairmen of the academic federations of universities around the world, the audience also watched the short documentary "A Hundred Years of Studying in China". The documentary has allowed more international students to understand the magnificent history of overseas students and the changes of the motherland in the past century, and appealed to the inspired the majority of returnees to pay attention to Hangzhou Xiaoshan, stay in Hangzhou Xiaoshan, and build Hangzhou Xiaoshan.
At the end of the conference, youth representatives Xu Jiru, Xi Rui, Luo Miao, Hong Chenyao and other debaters made wonderful appearances, and debated on the topic of "Is it a right choice for overseas students to return to China to start a business immediately after graduation?" to disccus the innovation and entrepreneurship of returnee youth.
